The Melanoma Foundation and MelNet

Clarification

The Melanoma Foundation of New Zealand and MelNet (Melanoma Network of New Zealand) are independent organisations. They share a commitment to minimising the incidence and impact of melanoma in New Zealand.

The Melanoma Foundation aims to reach out to the entire New Zealand community: to raise funds, increase awareness, and work towards a better outcome for people with melanoma. MelNet's primary focus is professional: coordination amongst health professionals, researchers, health promoters and policy makers. One of the Melanoma Foundation’s goals is to improve communication amongst professionals, so the Foundation was proactive in the formation of MelNet and is committed to continuing to support MelNet.

The Melanoma Foundation supports MelNet by hosting their web pages and providing technical and administrative support. But the content of the MelNet section of www.melanoma.org.nz is entirely MelNet's own. Many professionals with an interest in melanoma will choose to be involved with both organisations.

The Melanoma Foundation is encouraged by the formation of MelNet and endorses the goal of an integrated consumer-centred approach to the control of melanoma in New Zealand.
