Mission:
To create excellence in the awareness, education, prevention, treatment and research of melanoma in New Zealand
Goals:
- Improve the outcome of persons with melanoma
- Increase education and awareness of melanoma in New Zealand
- Improve communication amongst NZ workers in all areas related to melanoma
Core Position Statements:
- The MFNZ is a non-profit organisation devoted to issues relating to melanoma in NZ.
- The MFNZ uses the NZ Cancer Control Strategy and the Australian / New Zealand Melanoma Guidelines as the guiding documents for its activities. An evidence-based approach will be used by the MFNZ whenever possible to determine its goals and activities. All activities of the MFNZ may be linked to specific goals/actions/recommendations within these guiding documents.
- The MFNZ works cooperatively with other bodies involved in advancing the goals of the MFNZ.
- The MFNZ does not endorse products but will endorse programmes and policies that advance the goals of the MFNZ.
- MFNZ works to provide services or advocacy to enable NZ melanoma sufferers to access the same standard of care and evidence based treatment options as exist in Australia.
- MFNZ works to evaluate and to provide for the needs of NZ melanoma patients and their carers.
