Bequest

Please consider making a bequest to the Melanoma Foundation of New Zealand

Bequests are an important source of income for the non-profit sector. The wonderful thing about bequests is the long-term effect they have on the lives of New Zealanders. Many of the support services and research advances we enjoy today have been funded through the generosity of those who have gone before.

With your help we can increase awareness about melanoma, promote improved services for patients and fund research to find more effective treatments. Our legal constitution assures you that the money must be appropriately spent.

There are several types of bequests. Some people leave a specific bequest such as a sum of money, land, or shares. Others instruct their executors to sell their assets and allocate the proceeds in proportions. One way to make a bequest to a charity is to leave the balance (residue) of your Estate to the charity after legacies to family and funeral and administration costs have been paid.

How to bequest to the Melanoma Foundation of New Zealand

Your decision to support the Melanoma Foundation of New Zealand must be recorded in appropriate legal terms by your solicitor. Your solicitor can obtain a copy of our trust deed if you wish. If you already have a current will, a bequest does not necessarily require a new will. You can add a codicil to your existing will to include the Melanoma Foundation of New Zealand. This is an inexpensive legal procedure.

We encourage you to gift in support of all the Melanoma Foundation's activities. Or you may designate your gift solely for research into melanoma in New Zealand.

If you require any more information please email Heather Hyland hhyland@melanoma.org.nz  or telephone 09 486 5322 or 021 829 454.
