MelNet (the Melanoma Network of New Zealand) was established when over 230 health professionals gathered in Wellington on 14 November 2008 for the inaugural New Zealand Melanoma Summit.
The impetus for the Summit came, in part, from those involved in developing the ‘Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Management of Melanoma in Australia and New Zealand’. The Guidelines were launched the evening before the Summit.
The Summit included a range of distinguished overseas and New Zealand speakers, and copies of their presentations can be found at http://www.hsc.org.nz/melanomasummit/
At the Summit’s conclusion, participants unanimously agreed to establish a network to link all health professionals working in melanoma.
