Since May 2011, an online Canadian video designed to raise awareness of melanoma has had over 4.5 million views on You Tube.
Entitled "Dear 16-year-old Me", the poignant 5-minute video features a series of melanoma survivors -- as well as family members and friends of some people who didn't survive -- telling their experiences and what can be done to prevent melanoma and find it early.
The video was created by the David Cornfield Melanoma Fund, a group founded in memory of a young accountant who died from melanoma in 2005.
The video can be viewed on the Fund’s website at http://www.dcmf.ca
A similar message from the Melanoma Foundation of New Zealand, which was shown at the 2010 Grocery Charity Ball, can be viewed at http://www.melanoma.org.nz
