NZ Skin Cancer Control Framework

New Zealand Skin Cancer Control Strategic Framework 2011- 2014

This three-year Framework identifies priorities for action for skin cancer control in New Zealand, with a particular focus on prevention and to a lesser extent early detection. Aligned with The New Zealand Cancer Control Strategy, the Framework has as its overarching purposes the reduction of incidence, impact and inequalities with respect to skin cancer in New Zealand.

The Framework was developed by the Skin Cancer Control Steering Committee. The role of the committee is to facilitate improved coordination and collaboration between agencies involved in skin cancer control. To achieve this goal, the committee (comprising representatives of key stakeholders, including the Cancer Society, HSC, Ministry of Health and professional bodies) meets every three years to develop a skin cancer control framework for New Zealand.

An Early Detection Sub-Committee of the Steering Committee developed a report on the early detection of skin cancer in New Zealand to inform the development of the early detection section of the New Zealand Skin Cancer Control Strategic Framework 2011-2014.
