The Melanoma Foundation will benefit from more than $4000 raised at a charity auction hosted by Kapiti's Women in Business Network on December 14th. The fundraising venture was inspired by Sarah Wilson, adventure coach and "post melanoma thriver." Sarah is dedicated to raising awareness about melanoma, and funds for the Melanoma Foundation!
Sarah spoke on the auction evening about her recent and almost fatal brush with an avalanche on Mt Cook. Jane Stevenson, Chair of Women in Business said that “Sarah really set the scene at the beginning of the evening with her theatrics and personal story. Eddie Winkel from Professionals Real Estate was our Auctioneer and he also did a fantastic job in encouraging bidding from the floor."
Women in Business thanked the many Kapiti and Horowhenua businesses that generously donated exciting packages and experiences that were auctioned to the highest bidder on the night. The Melanoma Foundation joins in thanking these generous businesses, and also thanks the organisers, those who attended, and Sarah for this tremendous result.
(The Woman in Business network is a joint initiative between the district’s Economic Development Agency – Nature Coast Enterprise and the Kapiti Coast Chamber of Commerce. The network is open to all women in the Kapiti and Horowhenua region, who have their own business, or are either contractors or employed.)
