The Melanoma Foundation of New Zealand was chosen as the beneficiary of this year's Grocery Charity Ball. We are deeply grateful to the trustees of the Grocery Charity Ball and to the ball sponsors and donors who gave so generously on the night. |
Friday September 3rd saw 670 people descend on the Langham Hotel for the Grocery Charity Ball. The evening was a glittering occasion, but there was a sense of real purpose behind the glam. Ball organisers, corporates and individuals in the grocery industry were committed to supporting the Melanoma Foundation.
During the evening Kathryn Williams spoke briefly and compellingly about her experience with melanoma. A short video about the need for a melanoma centre, made for us by Pure Productions, was shown. And the ball-goers responded with their hearts, bidding and pledging incredibly generously.
The Grocery Charity Ball 2010 marks a turning point for the Melanoma Foundation. Thanks to the amazing support given, we will be able to make real progress towards our goals.
We also thank everyone who helped to make the ball a success: those who donated items for the auction, provided design and printing work, participated in the video, spent the day of the ball packing goodie bags or spent hours on their feet volunteering on the night.
