New Melanoma NZ Chief Executive

Melanoma New Zealand is delighted to announce the appointment of Andrea Newland as its new Chief Executive.

Over the years, Melanoma New Zealand has been steadfastly focused on preventing avoidable deaths and suffering from melanoma. Andrea will continue to build on this mission, increasing the organisation’s visibility and driving a comprehensive fundraising programme to enable Melanoma New Zealand to invest further in its strategic objectives of championing prevention, promoting early detection and increasing access to high quality clinical care. 

Andrea has more than 20 years’ experience in leadership roles with high profile organisations, with responsibility for media relations, marketing, communications, events and partnerships.  She joins us following more than nine years at the Starship Foundation (a social-profit organisation raising funds for the national children’s hospital) where she headed up the Marketing, Communications, Events and Corporate Partnerships functions.   Other roles have included Editor of the National Business Review magazine, Associate Editor of Management magazine and Public Relations Manager for law firm Simpson Grierson.

She also has governance experience as a trustee on the St Cuthbert’s College Educational Trust Board for the past five years.

Andrea is a qualified and experienced journalist and also graduated in 1994 from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Laws.

She is passionate about delivering meaningful social outcomes through the not-for-profit sector and is a committed advocate for compassionate healthcare and access to the best health resources for all.
